This year’s Emergency Services Show will feature a fire engine with a difference!

Backdraft Wheelie Fire Truck to star at Emergency Services Show

Alongside the more traditional fire appliances, police cars and ambulances at Cotswold Airport on Sunday 3 September will be the Backdraft Wheelie Fire Truck.

The front of this 20 tonne converted fire engine can lift 15ft into the air, allowing it to steer, stop and pirouette on the two rear wheels only.

Adding to the spectacular display is a custom-built vertical exhaust system, which can fire out three metre flames and fireballs.

Owner Steve Murty has travelled the world with the Backdraft Wheelie Fire Truck, which also has the usual fire engine features of flashing lights, blue strobe lights and sirens.

Chris Harvey, chairman of the Emergency Services Show charitable trust, said: “Having not been able to run a Show last year, we wanted to make this year’s event the biggest and best yet. The Backdraft Wheelie Fire Truck is unlike any arena display we have ever had before, and I’m sure our visitors will love it!”

Anyone wanting to be involved in the Show has until midnight on 27 August to register online as a charity, exhibitor or trader – for more information, visit www.emergencyservicesshow.com

Tickets for the Show are now on sale, priced £6 adults, £3 children under 16 and free for children under three – these can be bought in advance via www.emergencyservicesshow.com until midnight on 2 September, or on the day. Advance purchases will allow ticketholders to use a fast track gate on arrival at the Show.

The Emergency Services Show is organised by a charitable trust and supported by Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, Wiltshire Police and South Western Ambulance Service.

All profits are ploughed into supporting charities that work with the emergency services and running the next event, and the 2015 Show saw a total of £35,000 donated to good causes.

The Emergency Services Show will be open from 10am to 4pm on Sunday 3 September, and is expected to draw in thousands of visitors from across Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and further afield.
