Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted burglary at a bank in Gorse Hill.
At approximately 8am on Tuesday 24 April, two men were seen to jump from the flat roof at the rear of Lloyds Bank in Cricklade Road, onto Carpenters Lane.
A large hole was subsequently found in the roof and attempts to gain entry into the bank had clearly been made.
After the men were seen jumping from the roof, it is believed they got into a grey Ford Kuga which was driven off onto Chapel Street.
This vehicle was located on fire a short distance away in Florence Street. Enquiries were carried out and found that the vehicle was being driven on false plates and had been stolen from the Liverpool area.
PC James Rodrigues, of the North Swindon Community Policing Team, said: “It is clear from the damage caused to the roof space that an attempt had been made to break into the bank. We believe the men had been disturbed whilst attempting to break in, and then made off from the scene.
“I’m keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the men jumping from the roof, or saw the vehicle being driven from the scene and later abandoned.
“Please call us on 101, or alternatively, leave information anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
