We are appealing for information following an incident which left a 51-year-old woman shaken up.
At approximately 10.30am on Saturday 4 March 2017, the woman was walking alone from Cavendish Square towards Whitbourne Avenue, with a mobility walker. As she approached the church, she became aware of a man behind her.
The man grabbed the woman’s handbag from her shoulder and threw her mobility walker into the middle of the road.
The man then walked off in the direction of Welcombe Avenue carrying the woman’s handbag.
He is described as white and approximately 5 ft 7 inches tall of skinny build. He was wearing a dark coloured parka jacket with the hood up, light blue jeans and dark blue trainers, and he spoke with a local accent.
The bag contained a purple purse with a small amount of cash, a silver Pandora bracelet, a number of cards and a Nokia mobile phone.
PC Paul Davis said: “The victim has been left understandably shaken as a result of this incident and I would like to appeal to anyone who was in this area around 10.30am on Saturday to please get in touch if you think you may have seen this man prior to, or following the incident. Or did you witness the incident unfold? You could have vital information.”
