Wiltshire Police are appealing for information to help identify a man they want to speak to following a number of indecent assaults in Swindon.

Officers received four reports of women being approached and inappropriately touched yesterday (Wednesday 21 February 2018).

The first of these happened at around 4pm on a pathway between Westlea Drive and Welton Road; the second one took place at the junction of Bristol Street and Church Place at around 6.20pm.

The third incident happened at around 7.25pm on Crombey Street and the fourth around 7.40pm on Eastcott Hill between Savernake Street and Dixon Street.

The male responsible is believed to be white, 35 – 40-years-old, possibly Eastern European, of medium to large build, wearing a dark coloured coat and a grey hooded top.

The man was seen on a mountain bike in three of these incidents.

Wiltshire Police believe these incidents may be linked to a similar incident at the Whalebridge Car park, which occurred between 6.20pm and 6.45pm on Saturday 17 February.

Following an appeal in relation to this incident which was issued on Monday 19 February, they have received another report that a woman was indecently assaulted on the same day at around 6pm, near to Swindon’s bus station.

In each case, the women were shaken and distressed but not physically injured.

CCTV images were released on Monday of a man officers would like to speak to in relation to all these incidents are attached above in this article.

James Roberts said:  “We believe all of these incidents have been carried out by the same person and we would like anyone who recognises this man to come forward.
“We recognise that news of these incidents may cause concern within the local community and we would like to reassure the public that we are doing all we can to identify the person responsible through detailed enquiries.

“While we don’t want anyone to feel worried, we would urge women, when out alone, to be vigilant and report anything suspicious immediately.

“If you heard or saw anything or anyone acting suspiciously in these areas of town yesterday or over the weekend – please contact us.

“Also, we’d encourage any members of the public to report if they have been approached by this male or have witnessed him or anyone, matching his description, behaving in an inappropriate manner.”

If you can help with our enquiries please contact Swindon CID on 101 or anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
