A total of 1,128 students completed A-levels this summer, while a further 454 achieved qualifications through T Levels.
Across Swindon, 95.4% of A-level entries were awarded a pass grade between A* and E. That represents a rise of 0.3 percentage points compared with 2025.
The proportion of higher grades also increased, with 37.8% of entries achieving A* to B – up 0.6 percentage points on last year.
The borough-wide figures include results for Swindon students who attend Cirencester College.
Students have now begun taking their next steps, including progressing to university, apprenticeships and employment.
At New College Swindon’s Queen’s Drive campus, Rachel Gear, Head of Careers and Work Experience, described the atmosphere as “quietly confident”.
The college also reported positive results for its T Level programmes. She said:
“We’re seeing fantastic results coming through, particularly for our T-level programmes, where 92% of our learners have passed their programme, 15% have got a distinction.
“So we’re really thrilled to see that. And for me, the important part of the T level is the mandatory placement element. That means that they’re getting the employability skills, getting the workplace skills that equips them ready for the workplace.”
Student Dextra Rebello was among those celebrating after achieving a Distinction* in Level 3 Sport and Physical Activity.
She secured her firm university choice and is set to study sports therapy in Preston, having previously failed Maths and English at Level 2. She said:
“I’d probably say keep trying and never give up because I was there at that same position when I was doing level two, and I failed my maths and english.
“I stayed and I didn’t give up. I looked for more work experience, more people, meeting new people, gaining new experience, just don’t give up.”
Lydiard Park Academy Sixth Form recorded a 100% pass rate across its academic and vocational qualifications, with 76% of grades awarded at A* to C.
The academy said 63% of its vocational grades were Distinction or Distinction*, with students securing places at universities as well as moving into apprenticeships and employment.
Aliyah Dirisu achieved A*s in English Literature and Psychology, an A in History and an A* in her EPQ. She will study Law at Cardiff University.
Jesael Parmaku achieved an A* in Computer Science and As in Mathematics and Physics. He will study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bristol.

“These results reflect the hard work of our young people and the dedication of our staff in helping them thrive.”
UTC Swindon also reported strong results across its specialist STEM and vocational courses.
It recorded a 100% pass rate in Level 3 BTEC Esports, with 80% of grades at Distinction, as well as a 100% pass rate in Level 3 Cyber Security.
Every student taking the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering passed with a Merit or higher.
UTC student Aarav achieved A, A and B in A-level Maths, Computer Science and Physics. He will study Computer Science with Cyber Security at the University of Southampton.
Fellow student Dan achieved an A in A-level Maths and D*D*D* in his Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering.
He is deciding between studying Mechatronics and Robotics at Bournemouth University and taking a degree apprenticeship with Thames Water.
Tony Gilbert, Head of Faculty for Professional, Digital, Travel and Hospitality at New College, described 2026 as
“probably our best year of results”, highlighting performances in T Levels including Finance and Accounting and Digital.
He said:
“We’ve really focused with working with our students a lot more, working with schools, just that whole community approach with industry as well.”
Nationally, 320,505 students received A-level results this summer, accounting for 835,950 individual results.
Ofqual figures show 28.3% of A-level results in England were graded A or above, while 78.1% received C or above.
In the South West, 27.1% achieved A or above and 77.9% achieved C or above.
Around 1.1 million Level 3 results were issued nationally across A-levels, AS levels, applied generals and tech levels. A further 19,860 students received results for the Technical Qualification component of T Levels.
Councillor Kate Tomlinson, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Education, congratulated students across the borough.
She said:
“These achievements demonstrate the high aspirations of young people across Swindon and the excellent support provided by families, teachers and school communities.
“Whether you’re heading to university, starting an apprenticeship or beginning work, you take with you the skills and confidence to succeed.
“Today we celebrate not only their results, but the bright future they are helping to build for themselves and for Swindon.”
