Poulton Hill Vineyard on the Wiltshire/Gloucestershire border was awarded a silver medal for its Special Reserve 2017 white wine and a bronze medal for its Phoenix 2017 white.

The Independent English Wine Awards is an independent, high quality, consumer-focussed English wine competition, committed to helping increase sales of English wine and to assisting with the continued progress of the industry.

The competitions include experts from across the wine industry, including winemakers, sommeliers, buyers, merchants, and consumers.

Each entry undergoes a blind test, meaning judges are only told the grape variety and vintage.

Poulton Hill Vineyard’s managing director, Tiléri Charles-Jones, said: “We are delighted with our most recent endorsements.

“The awards mean that all of the wines from the 2017 harvest with the exception of the rosé – which has sold out – are award winning.”

The plaudits follow an excellent start for the year with Poulton Hill Vineyard’s Bulari Sparkling Rosé 2015 being heralded as one of the best wines of the year at The World’s Finest Glass of Bubbly Awards.

The vineyard is also in the finals of the Western Daily Press Food and Farming awards for best food and drink business, has been shortlisted in the SoGlos Gloucestershire Lifestyle Awards, and has been nominated in the Cotswold Life Food and Drink Awards.
