Wiltshire Police is appealing for witnesses after an incident took place in Swindon between a mother, her child and a unknown man.

Around 4pm on Sunday 9 April 2017 the woman and her two-year-old were walking along Curtis Street, towards the Tented Market, when they were approached by a man who took hold of the child’s hand and said: “You come with me; I take you to school.”

The mother told him to let go, which he did.

The man is described as an Indian man, 50-60-years-old, approx. 5’2″ tall and slim with short dark hair.  He was wearing a light blue shirt and cream coloured trousers and was pulling a blue shopping bag on wheels.

Det Con Snez Lennon from Swindon CID said: “If you were in the area at that time and heard or saw what happened or anything which seemed suspicious, please contact me.”

If you can help with our enquiries please contact Swindon CID on 101 or anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.

A 65-year-old local man was arrested in relation to this incident and has been released under investigation.
