New signs to welcome people to Swindon

Changes have been made to the existing “Welcome to Swindon” traffic signs, on all major approaches into the town.

The signs were updated to reflect the Council’s goal of regenerating the town centre by advising there are more attractions than just shopping.

The new signs have also been mounted on passively safe “Jerol” posts, designed to absorb the impact in the event of a collision.

In addition changes have also been made across the network to update the destination ‘National Monuments Record Centre (NMRC)’, to ‘Historic England’ following recent changes within English Heritage.

A total of 46 signs in the Borough have been patched or replaced as part of these works.
