Five people are said to be in a life-threatening condition after a serious house fire broke out in Manchester Road last night.
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to a house around 11.50pm where they found the property to be alight.
5 adults and 1 child were removed from the property and received emergency medical treatment at the scene.
60 year old man, a 21 year old woman, a baby girl aged 16 months and a woman aged 20 are all in serious conditions in hospital. They were taken to a variety of hospitals including GWH, Southmead and Bristol. In particular, the 20 year old woman is currently in intensive care at GWH due to be moved to a specialist hospital.
A boy aged 13 and a woman aged 23 were also injured and taken to hospital but are not believed to be critical.
Local residents were evacuated and kept warm at the local mosque. They were allowed back into their homes at approx. 03:40am.
Later this morning (Monday 7 November 2016) a fire investigation unit along with a police CSI unit will be attending the scene to establish the circumstances. Cordon’s remain in place around the property but there are no road closures at this time.
Police are asking for anyone with information to contact them via 101.
