New College Swindon is hosting an event to celebrate the launch of their new risual Microsoft Academy. The event takes place on Thursday May 11th between 4pm and 5.30pm at New College Swindon. Drinks and canapes will be available on arrival.

The event will be attended by representatives from a variety of local and regional organisations including National Trust, Bath Spa University, Swindon Borough Council, Excalibur Communications and GDS Technology.

Speakers will include Paddy Bradley, Director of Swindon LEP: Graham Taylor, Principal at New College; Richard Proud, Director and Co-founder of risual and Bhavin Bhagalia from Microsoft.

This innovative academy, developed in partnership with risual Education, will be the only one of its kind in the Swindon and Wiltshire LEP. Through it, New College will help to support the digital needs of individuals, employers and communities within the Swindon and Wiltshire.

The Academy will deliver digital learning, IT training and qualifications, as well as a range of IT apprenticeships that will include Software Developer and Infrastructure Technician.  The apprenticeships will be flexibly designed to meet employer needs and linked to industry recognised vendor qualifications (Microsoft MOS, MTA, MCP).

Graham Taylor, Principal of New College says:

“New College is aiming to be a centre of excellence in IT. Digital skills are ‘cross-cutting’ and permeate all jobs in a modern economy.

Our Academy will operate in partnership with Microsoft and risual Education Ltd, a Microsoft gold partner. It will be unique within the region.

The key aims of the Academy are to: boost IT skills, increase the number of IT learners and improve the quality and relevance of IT training. This will involve working closely with businesses and Universities in the Digital Technology sector and building on the raft of IT qualifications, including Apprenticeships that we already run.”

For more information about the event and to register attendance, please contact Amanda Walton on 01793 611 470 or at [email protected].
