Budding writers at New College Swindon who are studying A-level English, Creative Writing and Level 3 Journalism will have the opportunity to attend New College Lit Fest today.

Successful industry professionals from the world of fiction, travel writing and academia are going to be speaking with students about writing processes and experiences. The festival will run throughout the day, starting at 9am and finishing at 3:30pm. The winners of the ‘Write On’ competition will be announced around midday, winning a £50 Amazon voucher each.

Workshops and talks will be hosted by the Lit Fest guests, who will share their knowledge and writing experiences. The industry professionals attending are Santino Prinzi, Joe Roberts, Christopher Fielden and Mariadele Boccardi.

Santino Prinzi is a published flash fiction, short story and prose poetry writer from Swindon, who previously studied at New College. Joe Roberts specialises in travel writing and Christopher Fielden is a short story writer. Dr Mariadele Roccardi is Programme Leader at UWE, within the faculty of Arts, Creative Industries and Education. Mariadele’s area of expertise is Contemporary British Fiction.

The New College ‘Writer in Residence’, Stephen Tuffin commented on preparations for Lit Fest this year, “We have four of the finest figures in creative writing and academia coming to visit us at New College to share their experience, expertise and knowledge of creative writing.”

Stephen explained how Lit Fest will help students gain an understanding of what it is like to work as a professional writer and gain an insight into the creative writing industry.
