The former pre-school room had stood empty since the group relocated, due to the cost and labour required to make it usable again.
The potential of the long-vacant space was identified during last year’s community tidy-up day by councillors Mike Davies, Marianne Le Coyte and Rebecca Banwell-Moore.
However, there was no funding or capacity available at the time to carry out the refurbishment work needed.
In response, the councillors approached Heath Design and Construction to explore whether support could be offered.
The company agreed to complete the work free of charge and carried out a full refurbishment, including replastering and repainting.
The space has now been transformed into a bright and functional room which can be hired by local groups, organisations and residents.
Community Centre Manager Christine said:
“They were just brilliant, we are so grateful for the work they did. The team were just great and now we can use the space again.”
The refurbishment has restored a previously unusable part of the building and created additional indoor space for community use.
Those interested in hiring the room are advised to contact Eldene Community Centre directly for further information.
