The Great Western Hospital is looking for fresh faces to provide essential behind-the-scenes support.

A wide range of administrative job opportunities are currently available at the Swindon hospital, with a recruitment day happening this weekend for candidates looking to find out more.

Taking place on Saturday 17 February between 9am and 3pm, the event will give those people interested in joining the team at GWH a glimpse into life inside the NHS, a meet and greet with existing staff and a tour of their potential new working areas.

Interviews will also be held on the day, meaning anyone coming along can kick start their recruitment process without unnecessary delay.

Some of the available positions include administrators, receptionists and audio typists, as well as admin apprenticeship opportunities for school and college leavers.

Kevin Jenner, Outpatients Matron, said: “Lots of people think you need to be a doctor or a nurse to have a career in the NHS, but that’s not the case.

“In fact, there’s a whole army of people working behind-the-scenes at the Great Western Hospital, whose talents and skills are vital for making sure everything runs according to plan.

“Having a solid group of support staff available to our clinical teams is just as important as having a strong line-up of doctors and nurses available to our patients.

“This is a fantastic opportunity and the fact that interviews are being held on the same day means those first steps to a new job have never been closer.”

The positions on offer all sit within the hospital’s outpatients department, which cares for people either before or after a stay in hospital.

Working in this busy area of healthcare will provide successful candidates with multiple opportunities for career progression, as well as the chance to not only learn new skills but develop existing ones.

The event will be held in the Academy, which is located on the lower ground floor of the hospital.

Attendants are encouraged to register their interest online in advance at www.jobs.nhs.uk, especially if they wish to sit an interview.
