The international award, now into its third decade, is a sign that the park boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent visitor facilities.

Lydiard Park, owned by Swindon Borough Council, has 260 acres of lawns, woodlands and pasture for visitors to walk, jog, run, cycle or play in.

The restored state rooms of the Palladian house, the Walled Garden and children’s play area are open all year round offering a quality experience for visitors of all ages.

Cllr Keith Williams, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Lydiard Park, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award. We know how much quality green spaces matter to residents and visitors, and this award celebrates the dedication that goes into maintaining Lydiard at such a high standard.”

Lydiard Park is hosting lots of exciting events this summer including Open Air Theatre, Outdoor Cinema, Lydiard Bark Charity Dog Show, Grandslam 2018: Simple Minds, The Pretenders & KT Tunstall, and more.

Lydiard Park has also received the coveted additional Green Heritage Site Accreditation for the management of its historic features.

International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme, with more Green Flags awarded this year than last year.”

“Each flag honours the thousands of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award. We are proud to have so many wonderful green spaces in the UK for people to enjoy, and hope that next year, we award even more flags.”
