Excalibur Communications scoops Employer of the Year Award in FSB South West Celebrating Small Business Awards 2018.  A leading south west based telecoms and IT solutions service provider, Excalibur is delighted to receive the Award that celebrates successful companies in the region who have made a big impression over the past 12 months.  As regional winners, Excalibur will now be put forward for the national FSB Awards (Federation of Small Business) held in May at the Park Plaza, London.

To win Employer of the Year 2018, Excalibur had to demonstrate how it attracts, retains and develops its staff.  It also had to evidence how its approach to staff engagement has led to sustainable business growth versus other organisations of a similar size.

“As service led company, Excalibur’s staff are its biggest asset.  The management team continually looks at ways to maintain a motivating and compassionate workplace culture.  Winning this Award is a great honour and recognises our commitment to staff engagement and making Excalibur a great place to work,” says Peter Boucher, Excalibur CEO.

Excalibur undertakes a number of initiatives to make it a great employer.  Key focus areas include office environment, investing in people, staff benefits and incentives.  This has been an ongoing area of focus by the management over the last four years.

Office Environment

The office is completely open plan and its no-door-closed policy creates an environment for less formal interactions between partners at all levels and between departments.  Staff are referred to as ‘partners’.

Investing in People

Ongoing personal development is a priority and is achieved through mentoring, training and internal promotion.  The company also operates an 18 month Excalibur Business School programme. Delivered by an external associate, staff can build their own skills base in areas such as finance, delivering excellence in service and sales.

Benefits and Incentive

Excalibur believes its partners should be properly rewarded for success and hard work.   As part of its growth plan, Excalibur has devised an extraordinary £1 million bonus incentive scheme for the company. This money will be shared equally between all the partners.

Boucher, speaking about the scheme, explains;  “Excalibur has ambitious growth plans and the management team wants to share future success with the partners.  For the first time, we have launched a £1 MILLION staff bonus programme.  Directly linked to the growth and success of the company, staff will receive a share of the bonus at various milestones as the business grows.”
