Scott Media will run its new ‘PR Unpacked’ programme in Royal Wootton Bassett during January and February 2027.
The four practical sessions will cover identifying potential news stories, writing press releases, approaching journalists and making use of coverage once it has been secured.
The workshops will be led by Scott Media founder and PR expert Fiona Scott, who hopes to make the industry easier for small businesses to understand.
Fiona said:
“Public relations can often feel like a mystery to many business owners, but anyone can learn how to tell their story effectively if they know where to start.
“I created the PR Unpacked series to give entrepreneurs and marketers the practical tools, confidence and knowledge they need to handle their own PR successfully and build lasting credibility.”
The programme is open to sole traders, start-ups and established businesses, as well as marketing professionals looking to develop their PR skills.
The first workshop, ‘Find Your Stories’, will explore how businesses can identify newsworthy stories and understand what journalists are looking for.
It will also consider how PR activity can support wider business goals.
A second session, ‘Write Your Stories’, will focus on producing press releases and pitches, including common mistakes which can lead to approaches being rejected by journalists.
The third workshop, ‘Send Your Stories’, will cover finding and approaching journalists across newspapers, magazines, radio, television and podcasts.
Participants will also learn how to create a useful list of media contacts.
The final session, ‘Work Your Stories’, will look at how businesses can make the most of media coverage after publication or broadcast.
It will include using articles and media appearances on websites and social media to build credibility and extend the lifespan of a story.
Each workshop will be limited to six people, allowing attendees to receive more individual guidance.
The sessions will take place at Something Kind of Woo Too in Royal Wootton Bassett from 9.30am until 12.30pm, followed by a light lunch.
Individual workshops cost £99 plus VAT, while the full four-part programme costs £300 plus VAT.
