A new film office has officially launched in Swindon

ScreenSwindon, led by Create Studios in partnership with Filming in England and Swindon Borough Council, will act as the town’s dedicated film office, connecting production companies with local locations, services and professionals.

A new film office has officially launched in Swindon

The initiative aims to boost filming activity across the region and create opportunities that contribute to Swindon’s economy.

The launch event, held on Tuesday (23 September), included the unveiling of the ScreenSwindon website and talks from project partners and industry figures.

Speakers included Shahina Johnson, CEO of Create Studios, Councillor Marina Strinkovsky, Charlotte Woods of Creative England and Marilyn Fitzgerald, Managing Director of Create Studios, who outlined how the office will support incoming productions.

Local residents and business owners were invited to learn how to register their properties or services for use by production companies.

Marilyn Fitzgerald, Managing Director of Create Studios and Head of the ScreenSwindon initiative, said:

“It’s fantastic for Swindon to have its own dedicated Film Office. Create Studios has acted as an unofficial point of contact for many years, but now we can provide a formal service with a team, a website, and a clear offer. With film production growing rapidly in the South West, Swindon is now positioned to benefit – both economically and creatively.”

Councillor Marina Strinkovsky said:

“I supported the Film Office idea from the very first moment. Swindon Borough Council will be happy to help with permissions and licences and we’re proud to back an initiative that will bring new opportunities to our town.”

The launch is seen as a major step forward for Swindon’s cultural and economic growth, aiming to strengthen the area’s visibility as a viable filming destination.
