Lotmead Farm has now reopened for the 2019 season and already has Swindon’s strawberry fans flocking to pick the first of this year’s crops.

Lotmead Farm Pick Your Own has been shortlisted by The Farm Retail Association

The Pick Your Own will also be hosting Open Farm Sunday on 9 June, with talks and tours available by arrangement, displays of farm machinery and the dairy parlour open.

The team at Lotmead has been busy over the winter months making even more improvements for everyone to enjoy, and younger visitors will love the great new ‘Jam Factory’ play equipment added to the popular strawberry trail, as well as new animals and familiar faces in the small animal enclosure, the nature trail and the dairy parlour.

John Meaden, manager of Lotmead Farm, said: “It’s always exciting to see the new and regular visitors back on the farm, exploring what’s been growing and discovering all the fresh fruit and veg ripe and ready to pick.  This year, we currently have strawberries, rhubarb and asparagus, with our gooseberries likely to be ready the weekend after next and raspberries in July.  There will also be blackcurrants, potatoes, dwarf beans, runner beans, green beans, sweetcorn and more later in the season too.

“As ever, we’ve been busy over the winter and spring months, whilst we were closed to the public, but once we’re open all that hard work feels well worth it.  This year, we’ve not just been getting the crops ready, but also adding even more to enjoy in the play areas that we know our family visitors love so much.”

Individual day entry to the play area costs £2 per person, or £6 for families of two adults and three children.  But, as usual, the best value comes from the Family Annual Pass at £25 for unlimited access to the extended play area, small animals, nature trail and dairy parlour across the entire season.

Lotmead will be open seven days a week from 9.30am until 7pm, with last entry at 6.30pm, however fruit availability may affect closing times.  For the latest opening and availability information, call the 24 hour hotline on 01793 790137.
