Mum Rachel Tucker who created the charitable organisation to support the homeless, Swindon Footprints, has won a national award for her work.

Rachel, who lives in West Swindon, was been awarded an international LIFTEFFECTS Global Women STAR 100 Award for her contribution to the community.

Rachel is working hard with her team to help the homeless and rough sleepers in and around Swindon. She launched Swindon Footprints as a not-for-profit charitable company limited by guarantee and the team is working towards obtaining a charity number from the Charity Commission.

Rachel said: “Our work at Swindon Footprints through our two projects – Tent, Home & Beyond and Homeless Helping Hands – is made worthwhile knowing everything our team does go some way to helping people. We are changing, and in some cases saving a life.”

The Star Award puts Rachel alongside 100 other hard-working and selfless women from across the world who were also recognised.

Speaking about the award, Rachel said: “I was delighted to be nominated in the first place, but to be given the award is even better.

“I went up to London to receive the award and there were some fantastic women doing work in their community. I was inspired by them all.”

Sandra Nelson, founder of Lift Effects, said: “Rachel was  awarded with a Star Award in celebration and recognition of her selfless act of service to her community and humanity.”
