Every year more people, of all ages and abilities, are taking up croquet – and Swindon Croquet Club is one of the region’s premier clubs.

The Club always welcomes new players and visitors (there’s a welcoming atmosphere, free coaching and equipment), but 13thMay is a bit special. It’s National Croquet Day – a special opportunity for you to try croquet for yourself

The Club will be welcoming a number of guests: – Swindon’s Mayor, Councillor Maureen Penny will open proceedings at 10 am and, during the day Swindon’s 2 MP’s, Justin Tomlinson MP and Robert Buckland QC MP will be visiting us. They’ll be trying croquet out for themselves – so why not join them?

Croquet is a game where, using a long handled mallet, you hit balls through a series of hoops, or stop your opponent. It is a game of strategy and skill – it’s competitive, yet sociable, active and healthy. Just think Friends – Fun – Fitness – Sport – Strategy and skills – that’s croquet

Croquet at Swindon is played all year – many hardy players have got the ‘croquet bug’ and wrap up well to enjoy their favourite sport – and the social activities! Croquet is a sport for all ages. If you are not as agile as you used to be or if you are looking for a new sport or interest – then croquet is for you.

So why not come along to Swindon Croquet Club on 13thMay – it starts at 10am and ends at 4pm. “You’ll find us at Moredon Playing fields, Cheney Manor, opposite Manor Garden Centre. We all look forward to greeting you and introducing you to this fascinating sport – just contact me on 01793 873026 said Club Secretary John Airey”.
