Students who aspire to careers in engineering, science and digital technologies are invited to visit UTC Swindon on Thursday 10th May from 5.30-7.00pm to discover its unique learning environment, superb facilities and outstanding career opportunities. Visitors will be able to enjoy a tour of the college with current students, talk with teachers and hear from the Principal, Jon Oliver, about the industry partnerships and soft skills initiatives that ensure UTC Swindon students are well-prepared to achieve their career ambitions.

UTC Swindon students go on to gain places on highly competitive apprenticeship programmes, university courses, and to secure employment with leading businesses. The college achieved the best Progress 8 score for Sixth Form pupils in the Swindon area in 2017 and was the only school to achieve a positive score at this critical education stage. A further strength of UTC Swindon is its partnerships with industry, which guarantee that students are learning exactly the skills that companies need for the future and are prepared for the jobs of tomorrow.

The college also enjoys success in the variety of extra-curricular opportunities it provides for students, with a team recently winning the Royal Navy Challenge at HMS Sultan.

Jon Oliver, Principal, explains how UTC Swindon’s approach works for students: “We offer an exciting combination of project-based learning, a technical education and an environment that feels like the workplace, so students get a real sense of the shape of their future careers. We’re very proud that our Sixth Form students are gaining places on sought-after apprenticeships and university courses as a result of the qualifications and wider skills that they achieve here with us.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming prospective students and their families to UTC Swindon on 10th May and hope to inspire the next generation of engineers, scientists and technicians to start their pathway to success with us.”

Jon Oliver will give a talk about all aspects of joining the college at 6.30pm. Prospective students are invited to register to attend the Open Evening. There are currently places available for September 2018 for students entering Year 10 and Year 12 and students considering joining UTC Swindon in 2019 and beyond are also strongly encouraged to attend.
