A group of Level 3 Photography students at New College are approaching the end of their course, but are planning to go out on a high note by celebrating their best work.

PHOTOGRAPHY STUDENTS CELEBRATE THEIR BEST WORK WITH END OF YEAR EXHIBITION

The eight students have all developed their own unique photography styles throughout the duration of the course and are teaming up together for their final unit of work. The project focus has got the student group thinking about life after college, with a focus on careers and destinations.

The exhibition is titled ‘Captured Light’ and is due to take place at the Number 9 Gallery in Swindon from 14th -18th May 2018. Themes will range from fashion and portraiture, to travel and animal photography. It’s set to be a diverse collection, with something that’ll interest everyone.

The students have been working as a group, putting forward different ideas and approaches as part of the experimentation segment of their work. They then voted on their favoured approach to different elements of the exhibition, to come up with a final product.

The exhibition is a great opportunity for the students to show off their best work and also network with industry professionals. They have been working on online and physical portfolios, as well as the exhibition itself, with an aim to create a name and brand for themselves.

The creative, social setting will be a great chance for the students to meet potential employers and like-minded individuals, which will hopefully open up doors leading to collaboration and possibly employment.

Student, Abbie Carmichael, who will be exhibiting fashion and portrait photography commented: “As a group we put this exhibition together to showcase our best work at the end of the OCR level 3 course. The exhibition shows a range of genres and skills inside of photography including fashion, portraiture, landscape and animal. It’s also been a great way to showcase individual chosen specialisms that we wish to share with others.”

The exhibition will be on for one week only at the Number 9 Gallery from 14th May, 9am-5pm.
