Bruce Street Bridges Roundabout set to change

Mannington & Western Councillors have welcomed the news that Swindon Borough Council has agreed to change the “Give Way” priority at the Bruce Street Bridges Roundabout to favour cars entering into Rodbourne Road from the roundabout and not giving way to cars using Kemble Drive.

The change will not only help traffic leaving the roundabout system, but also help to reduce traffic queuing down Rodbourne Road.

The Mannington & Western Councillors had been pushing for this change ever since the new design of Bruce Street Bridges Roundabout was built.

The work is programmed in for 30th August, the contractor will be on site after 9:30 to avoid peak traffic.

Councillor Jim Robbins, who is both a Mannington & Western Councillor and the Labour Group Spokesperson for Highways, said:

“It is clear that Rodbourne residents have been disadvantaged both by the ridiculous overrun of the roadworks at Bruce St Bridges and by the road layout which caused long tailbacks on Rodbourne Road. We hope that the changes will allow Rodbourne residents to save time on their journeys and make Rodbourne Road less congested.  With the new Aldi store being opened soon, the changes will be needed more than ever.”
