Britain’s best Pick Your Own, Lotmead Farm, has announced its official opening date for the 2017 summer season.

From Wednesday 31 May, the PYO will be open again for strawberries and other soft fruit, as well as offering families a great day out with an improved play area, small animal enclosure, nature trail and dairy parlour.

Over the winter season, the team behind Lotmead has been busy making changes for everyone to enjoy, and visitors will see great new play equipment, including a giant climbable bumblebee made from recycled tyres, new animals and familiar faces.

The Family Annual Pass remains at £15 for unlimited access to the extended play area, small animals, nature trail and dairy parlour.

New for this year will also be a Family Day Pass, where for £5 families of two adults and three children can save on one day’s entry.

Individual entry also remains at the 2016 price of £1.50 per person.

Norman Parry, owner of Lotmead Farm, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to announce our opening date as we know that for many local people summer only really starts when Lotmead opens.  We’ve put a lot of work into improving the PYO and play area this year and we’re sure that families will appreciate the new equipment and hours of fun that the little ones will have.

“We’ve also brought our soft fruit picking entry procedures in line with other PYOs from this year and will be implementing a redeemable deposit per person – but this shouldn’t mean that it will cost people any more than before.  This will also mean that people can pick up their punnets and get picking the tastiest strawberries in the country more quickly.”

Lotmead will be open seven days a week from 9.30am until 7pm, however fruit availability may affect closing times.  For the latest opening and availability information, call the 24 hour hotline on 01793 790137.
