Tomorrow, Friday, 25 March, the new IMAX screen will be opened in the place of the old main screen in the cinema. The main screen was closed in February, but the capacity of the room will be decreased from 320 to 260 seats in order to accommodate the huge screen.

Justin Ribbons, CEO of Empire Cinemas, said, “We’re really excited that the launch of the IMAX screen in Swindon is finally here.”

The Swindon IMAX will be the 42nd in the UK and the fifth in the Empire chain with other sites in Birmingham, London, and Basildon.

The first film to be shown on the IMAX will be Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, costing £15, compared to the £8.50 of a normal viewing.

With some massive releases coming up, such as Captain America: Civil War and Alice Through the Looking Glass, this is the perfect time to open the new screen with movie fans rushing to get tickets for the new experience.
