Locomotive for Murder: The Improvised Whodunnit will be performed on Saturday 3 May, bringing an evening of intrigue and comedy to the historic Swindon venue.

The production is presented by Pinch Punch and promises a different show every night. The entire performance is created live on stage, with no script and no pre-planned storyline.

Audience suggestions help shape the plot, as a cast of suspicious passengers board a fictional train journey where not everyone will reach the final stop. A detective must then unravel the mystery before the culprit strikes again.

The show has been described by The Reviews Hub as “a first class improvised murder mystery with hilarious performances”.

A unique twist lies at the heart of the production, with only one performer knowing the identity of the killer – the actor playing the murderer.

As the story unfolds, the audience is encouraged to help piece together clues, question suspects and identify the culprit. Organisers say the interactive format ensures that no two performances are ever the same.

The show runs for around 60 minutes, with an optional extended 90-minute version including an interval. It is suitable for ages 10 and above and may include comedic depictions of murder, mild innuendo, audience participation and occasional strong language.

The performance forms part of a wider programme celebrating 90 years of the Bowl, one of Swindon’s best known outdoor venues.
