Swindon Booth House is urging local businesses to partner with the hostel in 2026 as it looks to expand the support available to people experiencing homelessness in the town.

The hostel, run by the Salvation Army, said it wants to build on a successful Christmas social media appeal by developing longer-term relationships with employers who want to make a visible local impact.

The aim is to secure funding and practical support that goes beyond day-to-day essentials, helping residents move towards long-term recovery, independence and dignity.

During the past year, Swindon Booth House supported 91 people into permanent housing.

It also created 394 opportunities for residents to take part in social enterprises, skills development and structured activities.

These included football tournaments, cooking clubs, and work experience in catering and bike repair through the Recycles social enterprise.

Open twenty four hours a day, 365 days a year, the hostel provides a safe and structured environment where people can begin rebuilding their lives.

Chloe Kirwan, Programme Manager at Swindon Booth House, said:

“Support from local businesses allows Booth House to turn practical help into lasting change, creating opportunities, dignity and independence for those who need it most.

“Businesses will become part of a shared commitment to community wellbeing, sustainability and real visible impact.

“Most people experiencing homelessness are doing their best to survive and, with the right support at the right time, many can and do rebuild stable, independent lives.”

The partnership drive comes as the hostel looks to fund additional support that can transform the experience of residents.

Members of the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service deliver Christmas donations to Booth House on 24 December.

This includes day trips to museums and beaches, laptops for job and housing applications, and welcome care packages for people arriving directly from the streets.

Booth House said these elements, while not always viewed as essentials, play an important role in helping people reconnect with everyday life and move forward with confidence.

Businesses are being invited to support the hostel as a Charity of the Year or through one-off initiatives.

Support can include corporate volunteering days, matched fundraising, donation drives and educational engagement delivered by Salvation Army staff.

For employers, the hostel said involvement offers team building opportunities, stronger corporate social responsibility and a clear way to demonstrate commitment to the Swindon community. Chloe added:

“We are grateful for the past support of local employers like Zurich, Nationwide and GWaste.

“This new drive aims to build on that strong foundation. Whether a business can commit for a year or a day, every contribution makes a tangible difference right here in Swindon.”
