Revolution Performing Arts has been named a finalist in the Best Family Business category at the Best SME Awards 2026.
The company was launched in 2007 by Fi Da Silva-Adams. It began as a small initiative designed to support her young family.
Over the past 19 years, the school has expanded into an established creative hub in Swindon. It now provides regular classes, holiday camps and theatre opportunities for children and young people.
Fi said her son Zavi was the driving force behind setting up the business.
She said: “My son Zavi was the inspiration for starting Revolution, as I wanted to create a space where children could tap into their creative imagination and build confidence through performing arts.
“I started Revolution Performing Arts after Angel was born to give me the flexibility to spend more time with my family and be there for the important moments, the sports days, school assemblies and everything in between.”
As demand increased, her husband Paul left his corporate IT role in 2012 to join the company. The move marked a significant step in its development as a family-run enterprise.
Their daughter Angel has since become involved in the business.
Fi added: “Revolution Performing Arts has played such an important role in supporting our own family as it has grown. I’ve always loved being able to extend that same sense of community to the families who become part of our RPA family.”
The company says it has supported thousands of young people across Swindon and the surrounding area. Many have used the platform to grow in confidence, make friends and explore their creativity.
The Best SME Awards were launched this year by the team behind the Best Businesswomen Awards. The programme celebrates small and medium-sized businesses across the UK.
Debbie Gilbert, founder of the awards, said the standard of entries had impressed judges in its first year.
She said: “Despite mounting pressures on businesses, from rising costs and funding challenges to navigating economic uncertainty, these finalists have demonstrated resilience, innovation, and strong leadership. We are proud to shine a spotlight on these outstanding SMEs, which are the backbone of the UK economy.”
Reflecting on the shortlisting, Fi said the recognition was particularly meaningful as the company approaches a milestone anniversary.
She said: “As we approach 19 years in business this July, I feel incredibly honoured, proud and humbled to be named a finalist in this wonderful category at these inaugural awards.”
Winners will be announced at a gala evening at the Daventry Court Hotel on Friday 24 April.
