Bath Road Methodist Church is hosting a Believing Science Wonder Day on Saturday 22nd August, featuring experiments, crafts and activities.
The drop-in event, which runs from 10am until 4pm, is aimed particularly at primary school-aged children and their families.
Visitors will be able to explore different zones focusing on the environment, light and colour, astronomy and life.
A planetarium will also host a number of shows throughout the day, giving children an opportunity to learn more about space and the universe.
All activities are free and families do not need to book to attend the main event.
However, places for the planetarium shows are limited and families are being encouraged to book sessions in advance through the event’s online booking page.
Organisers say the Wonder Day aims to increase children’s understanding of science and encourage curiosity about the world and universe around them.
The event is being organised by the Old Town Partnership of Churches and Believing Science, an organisation which aims to encourage churches and their communities to engage with science and technology.
Families will also be encouraged to consider questions surrounding science, faith and the universe.
Rev Rach Collins, minister of Bath Road Methodist Church, said: “We are really looking forward to exploring the wonder of science and creation as we invite families into the Church.
“This is a day where science and religion really can mix, we’re not there to give answers but explore questions of the universe together.”
The Old Town Partnership of Churches brings together Christ Church with St Mary’s Church of England, Bath Road Methodist Church and Immanuel United Reformed Church to serve the Old Town community.
Families can drop into Bath Road Methodist Church at any point between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 22 August.
