The event will take place on Saturday 11th July between 10am and 4.30pm, giving visitors the chance to explore the memorial gardens, view the chapel and meet the team who support bereaved families.
Guided tours of the crematory will also be available, offering an insight into a service that many people have little direct experience of.
The open day comes ahead of a major refurbishment programme at the site, which will see the chapel upgraded with new technology aimed at creating more personalised funeral services.
The crematorium is due to close temporarily from 22 August while the work is carried out. It is expected to reopen on 8 September.
Planned improvements include immersive projection technology capable of displaying personalised visual themes across the front wall of the chapel, alongside synchronised lighting and sound effects.
Loraine Beckinsale, Manager of North Wiltshire Crematorium, said: “Our open day presents people with the opportunity to visit our crematorium and its grounds in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and learn more about everything we have to offer.
“Visitors can meet the professional and dedicated team here, who take pride in providing exceptional care and support.
“It is an opportunity to ask any questions they might have about what we do, especially the various service options we offer to help with making the right choice for themselves or a loved one.”
Research commissioned by the crematorium’s parent company, Westerleigh Group, found that 92 per cent of people aged over 55 who had arranged a funeral within the previous five years considered a personalised service to be important.
Visitors will also be able to speak with local funeral directors, celebrants and organisations involved in memorialisation and end-of-life services.
Representatives from a range of organisations are expected to attend, including Aura Flights, EverWith, Anglia Casting Signs, Coleman Milne, the Wiltshire Registrar, the Mortuary Manager from Great Western Hospital and several local charities.
Information will also be available on memorial options, including remembrance within the crematorium grounds, ash scattering services and personal keepsakes.
People attending the event will be invited to write a letter or card to a loved one and place it in the site’s “Letters to Loved Ones” memorial post box.
North Wiltshire Crematorium & Memorial Gardens is part of Westerleigh Group, which operates 42 crematoria and cemeteries across England, Scotland and Wales.
The open day is free to attend and no advance booking is required. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.
