The 27-year-old has committed himself to the Robins until the summer of 2028, extending his stay at the Nigel Eady County Ground.

Drinan has been central to Town’s improved form this season. He has scored 24 goals in all competitions, including 18 in the league, and has provided three assists.

It marks the best minutes-per-goal return of his career. His influence has grown as Swindon have climbed back into promotion contention.

Among his standout performances were a hat-trick against Bolton Wanderers in the FA Cup and another against MK Dons in the Vertu Trophy. He has also picked up individual honours, winning the Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month award for September and the PFA Player of the Month for October.

Beyond the goals, Drinan’s work rate and pressing have been key features of Town’s recent displays. His physical presence and movement have provided a consistent outlet in attack.

By securing his services until 2028, the club have removed the risk of uncertainty around one of their most important players. The deal is seen as part of wider long-term planning as Swindon aim to build on their current momentum.

Our sports reporter Ian Howard said:

“This is massive for Swindon. You do not let a 24-goal striker in this kind of form drift into uncertainty. It tells the dressing room and the fans that the club mean business.

Drinan is not just scoring, he is setting the tone for how this team plays. If Swindon are going to push on, this is the sort of decision that underpins it.”

With confidence growing and their leading scorer now tied down, Swindon have strengthened their position off the pitch. Attention now turns to whether that stability can translate into results in the closing stages of the campaign.
