Goldsworthys carry the Swindon legacy forward as Chromacre reaches national shortlist

Goldsworthys Hairdressing, the long-established salon group based in Swindon, Cirencester and Marlborough, has once again captured national attention with eight images from its latest collection Chromacre shortlisted for Wales and South West Hairdresser of the Year at the British Hairdressing Awards 2025.

The recognition highlights the enduring creative force at the heart of a family business that has been synonymous with quality hairdressing since it was founded in 1961 by Peter and Peggy Goldsworthy.

From its earliest days operating under the name Peter of Mayfair, Goldsworthys has grown into an award-winning group, known for technical excellence, strong training and consistent professional recognition. The salons have built a culture where creativity is celebrated and nurtured, reinforcing their reputation as one of the South West’s most respected hairdressing names.

Over the decades, Goldsworthys has been recognised across a broad range of industry awards. The group was named Salon group of the year at the Fellowship for British Hairdressing Awards, a prestigious accolade nominated by peers from across the industry.

Individually, creative leadership has also been acknowledged. Josh Goldsworthy, a leading creative figure for the salon, was inducted into the British Hairdressing Business Awards Hall of Fame after winning Salon stylist of the year three times in succession, a distinction few contemporary stylists achieve.

The images from the competition:

The significance of the ‘Chromacre’ shortlisting lies as much in what it represents as what it celebrates. The creative mantle that once rested with the founding generation and subsequently with Steven Goldsworthy, has now passed to his children Josh and Sophie-Rose, who lead the artistic direction of the group.

The siblings are credited not only with crafting striking collections, but also with shaping the salon’s contemporary identity. Their work blends technical mastery with modern editorial sensibilities, and the latest British Hairdressing Awards nomination reaffirm that their leadership is propelling the brand forward.
