Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is launching a new website to connect students, teachers and career advisors in Swindon with local employers.
The launch of the Swindon Careers Hub coincides with National Careers Week, running from Monday 5th until Friday 10th March 2018.
The project has been funded by Health Education England and aims to promote the countless routes into careers in Health and Social Care and raise young people’s careers awareness and aspirations.
The Trust is keen for representatives from Swindon schools and colleges, local authorities and employers to get involved and contribute to the hub’s events calendar to share career-focused events in the local area.
Visitors to the site are encouraged to sign up to become Advocates of the hub, which grants access to add events and resources to the site, such as information on school career talks, job fairs, open days or useful documents.
Users can also access an online forum throughout the site, offering the chance to network with other advocates and the potential of forming new working partnerships.
The Trust appointed an external project manager, Laura Mathews, to oversee the development of the website and bring the service to life.
Laura said: “We are very pleased to announce the launch of this exciting new tool.
“It will be a great resource for schools and colleges to advise young people in Swindon who are interested in learning more about local job opportunities, particularly in health and social care, and the pathways to successful careers at the Great Western Hospital.
“We want to start connecting more with students and schools to let them know about opportunities at the Trust and the wide range of roles that are available.
“It’s also a great way for us to collaborate with other organisations and ensure that we are raising awareness of all of the events that are taking place in Swindon.”
