Wiltshire employers support JobFest Swindon

JobFest Swindon now has three Wiltshire based employers sponsoring this years event.

Their generosity will greatly benefit local 16-24 year olds in the area by giving them the opportunity to visit JobFest Swindon 2018 for FREE, to get career inspiration, help, information and advice.

JobFest 2018 will bring together over 50 Swindon employers that who are offering apprenticeships and employment opportunities to local 16-24 year olds in the area and has fast become known as an important platform for Swindon employers to reach out to local young people and meet their future workforce.

Knorr-Bremse UK will be sponsoring and attending the event this year.

Knorr-Bremse employ over 25,000 people worldwide, with 1,200 employed in the UK, across their 6 facilities, including in Melksham, Wiltshire.  Knorr-Bremse are the leading manufacturer of braking systems and supplier of sub-systems for rail and commercial vehicles. 

GLL are the UK’s largest leisure operator and charitable social enterprise and offer careers for everyone across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

They will be offering career advice at JobFest in areas such as leisure, sport, libraries, events & catering and health & beauty and their training and apprenticeship schemes. GLL employ over 10,500 members of staff.

The Swindon & Wilts Local Enterprise Partnership are generously supporting JobFest Swindon too.  SWLEP is a private sector led partnership between local businesses, Swindon Borough Council, Wiltshire Council, the military and the education sector.

Working with its partners, the SWLEP support projects that help accelerate economic growth and job creation in the area. Between 2014 and 2021 the SWLEP will invest £518m in growing the local economy, including £169m from three local growth deals with Government.

JobFest will be held during the Government’s 11th National Apprenticeship Week initiative (NAW 2018) that runs from 5th– 9th March 2018.

Over 144 businesses and organisations having exhibited at JobFest over the last two years.  We have Wiltshire employers from the following sectors registered:  Tourism, Engineering, Procurement, HR, Leisure, Manufacturing, Health, Training, Construction, Manufacturing, Utilities, Technology, Public Sector, Police, NHS, Hospitality, Logistics, Charity, Recruitment and Healthcare. 

80% of businesses who attended in 2017 identified potential employees.

JobFest in 2018 already has over 400 secondary school students (Year 11) attending and this will involve 12 Swindon Secondary Schools and Colleges.

In 2017, 95% of students who attended said they would recommend this event to their friends.
