Event: Summer Cycle Orienteering Event

Location: Start at Richard Jefferies Museum, Marlborough road, SN3 6AA (near Coate Water)

Date: Sunday 20th August, 11am- 4pm

FREE event suitable for all the family

Hop on your bikes this Summer Holidays to explore Swindon’s cycle paths with a FREE cycle orienteering challenge! Back by popular demand, Swindon Cycle Campaign have organised the event to encourage people to explore their local area by bike. With a brand new cycle orienteering map you can navigate your way around Swindon on traffic-free cycle paths and discover so much more from the saddle of your bike.

You choose what route you’d like to take and how far you’d like to go. The event is suitable for anyone who can ride a bike and we encourage people of all ages and abilities to join in the fun! There’s the option to ride for 1, 2 or 3 hours (must be finished by 4pm). Collect orienteering points along the way and hand your points cards in at the checkpoint when you finish – prizes awarded for the three highest scores in each time category.

So come along and join in this free event! You can sign up via the Let’s Ride website https://www.letsride.co.uk/rides/summer-cycle-orienteering-free-family-event, or just pop along on the day. All you need is a roadworthy bike, but we have volunteers on site to check it’s safe to ride. We also recommended that you carry a pump and a spare inner tube or puncture repair kit just in case!

The Richard Jefferies museum are kindly hosting us as part of their ‘Culture and Cream Teas’ Sunday open afternoon. There will be delicious cream teas, live country blues music and lots of free activities for all the family to get involved in.
