The Wyvern Theatre opens its doors on Sat 29 October for the return of their annual free Family Fun Day, and there’s lots of fun in store to keep the kids happy.

Visitors can expect appearances from stage stars including Santa’s Elves from this year’s Arts Centre Christmas show Santa Claus and the Night Before Christmas, and a special guest for the Cinderella story-time which will take place at Swindon Central Library at 11am.

Swindon and Wroughton Rock Choir will be taking to the stage for two special performances at 11am and 12pm, which will be free to watch, and there will be live music outside on the bandstand throughout the morning, provided by Holmes Music.

Local company Butterfly Occasions will be in the Wyvern restaurant providing glitter tattoos and will also be holding Sand Art workshops.

Spaces for the workshops are limited, but tickets are free and can be booked through the Ticket Office on 01793 524481.

Prime Youth Theatre will be hosting spooky Halloween drama and storytelling workshops in conjunction with the event, with free tickets available to book in advance, while Swindon Dance open their doors for free family dance workshops from 1pmonwards.

Swindon Theatres Marketing Manager, Laura James says of the event:

“We’re so excited to welcome the local community back into the theatre as a whole for Family Fun Day. This year’s plans are bigger and better than ever with stage performances, family workshops, story time, live music and much more… and it’s all free! It’s a really great opportunity for families to engage with the Theatre and to explore what we have to offer for all ages over the coming season.”

Other family activities at the Family Fun Day include a bouncy castle and soft-play area, biscuit decorating, face painting, a tombola and cake stall to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital, and crafts and colouring.

The event takes place from 10am-1pm on Sat 29 October at Wyvern Theatre and is free to attend. For more information visit: swindontheatres.co.uk.

*Free tickets for the Sand Art sessions and for Prime Theatre’s workshops are limited and can be booked in advance via our ticket office on 01793 524481.
