Wiltshire Police responded to reports of an emergency radio activation by a paramedic in Lickhill Road, Calne, on 25 August at around 6.30am.

On arrival, officers were advised by the single-crewed paramedic that he had been attending a report of an unconscious male led in the middle of the road, but while in the process of treating the male he’d thrown a punch at the paramedic which he had managed to blocked with his forearm, the male also began spitting at him which hit him in the eyes and face.

The patient, a local male, aged 24, was arrested on suspicion of assault.

While in the process of being arrested, the male also spat in the face of the arresting police officer, and was verbally abusive repeatedly shouting and swearing in the street.

Additional police units rushed to the scene where the male was further arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and Section 4 of the Public Order Act.

The male was then taken to Melksham custody, where he was charged.
