Lift-Off Film Festival Global Network Selects the bloke code by Doug Kirby & Billy (Richard) Rees to be part of their prestigious line up of true independent cinema at this years Amsterdam Lift-Off Film Festival 2016 – taking place in the majestic LAB111 in the heart of Amsterdam.

Local filmmaker Doug Kirby was recently awarded an official selection for their film ‘the bloke code’ which was selected out of 2400+ global entrants, to screen at the prestigious Amsterdam Lift-Off Film Festival this October.

At the event all of the films will be scored by the attending audience, where the winners are potentially screened at the ten proceeding Lift-Off global events, with the ultimate aim to give filmmakers like Doug & Billy the best exposure possible as they embark on their continued artistic journeys within the film industry.

‘The Bloke Code’ is about the lengths a guy will go to to gain forgiveness from his best friend after breaking the first ‘Bloke Code’ – the ultimate no no: sleeping with his friends ex-girlfriend soon after they had split.

Our festival short is the opening scene, the one were the husband comes home early! “We are proud that something produced in Swindon by a great crew and amazing cast is getting global exposure and has now put our names in the minds of major TV commissioners.

Since writing the bloke code series Billy has written a full drama feature which he & Doug are currently looking at producing”.

4th October 2016 Shorts Programme 1 3.30pm – 6.00pm LAB111, Arie Biemondstraat 111, 1054 PD Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Lift-Off currently has festivals in London, Manchester, New York, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Paris, Sydney, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Los Angeles.

James Bradley Co-Director and Co-Founder of Lift-Off says… “Getting into any Lift-Off Film Festival is a massive achievement. The world of independent film has grown so much over the years that many of the grass rooted filmmakers and emerging professionals are left without much of a platform. We felt that many of these artists who were producing exceptional work were being hugely ignored – and deserved to be seen! Our judges are rigorous and we are quickly building a reputation of finding true undiscovered talent.”
