The first 250 people to share their story and give a donation to the museum will be invited to a Red Arrows flypast and get a sneak preview of Concorde www.aerospacebristol.org/concorde-stories.

Concorde for me, has to be the most iconic and beautiful aircraft in the history of flight, and a plane I will always regret never taking the opportunity of flying in.

Concorde saw its first scheduled flight on 21st January 1976. Initially, the US Congress banned Concorde landing in the US, mainly due to citizen protest over sonic booms,

The US Secretary of Transportation at the time, William Coleman, gave permission for Concorde fly into Washington Dulles International Airport on 24 May 1976. And the first transatlantic flight into JFK New York was 22nd November 1977.

Ever since Concorde’s first flight 4 decades ago, this iconic aircraft has inspired generations and Aerospace Bristol are hoping that when the Concorde Hanger is finally open to the public that generations to come will be inspired to become the next aviation engineers to push the limits of aviation technology, just like those who helped make Concorde a reality.

Aerospace Bristol are now looking to the public, to tell their Concorde Stories.

Do you remember exactly where you were on 26th November 2003 when Concorde graced the skies for the final time? Were you a passenger on this magnificent aircraft?

Do you remember where you were when Concorde took to the Sky for the very first time?

Were you at the Clifton Suspension Bridge as our most famous and iconic aircraft soared over head? Did you see her touch down for the last time on that damp Wednesday afternoon at Filton?

If so, Aerospace Bristol would love you to tell your story.

Not only will you be one of only 250 guests of this exclusive event, but you will take part in a Red Arrows photoshoot, standing in the iconic shape of Concorde as the Red Arrows fly over head and attempt to capture images from the air.

Guests will then be invited into the museums new Concorde Hanger to enjoy an exclusive sneak preview of Concorde ahead of the museum opening later this year.

Aerospace Bristol, the new museum due to open later this year, has created an online ‘Concorde Memory Map’ where you can browse a treasure trove of Concorde anecdotes and add your stories for others to enjoy.

Your memories will also be added to the new museum’s digital archive – ensuring that they are preserved, ready to inspire the next generation of engineers.

If you would like to be a part of Concorde history and add you memories of Concorde, then check out the link to the ‘Concorde Memory Map’. Visit: www.aerospacebristol.org/concorde-stories

Iain Gray, Chairman of Aerospace Bristol, said: “Aerospace Bristol will celebrate the innovation and endeavor of those generations who went before us and inspire young people to consider careers in science and technology. We are asking everyone who has a Concorde story, and shares our aim of keeping the spirit of Concorde alive, to please share their story with us and support us with a kind donation. Your contribution truly will make a difference.”

There has already been a fantastic response to the Aerospace Bristol appeal for Concorde memories with over 140 stories so far, so if you want to be a part of this iconic story and a part of history, then be quick and follow the link www.aerospacebristol.org/concorde-stories

Donations will help to inspire the next generation of engineers and to keep the memory of Concorde alive.

In addition to this special event for the first 250 donors, those who donate will also enjoy the following benefits.

  • Blue donation (£10-£24): A thank you certificate and your story marked on the map with a blue Concorde pin
  • Red donation (£25 to £49): A window sticker, a thank you certificate and your story marked on the map with a red Concorde pin
  • White donation (£50 to £99): An Aerospace Bristol lapel badge, a window sticker, a thank you certificate and your story marked on the map with a white Concorde pin
  • Silver donation (£100 to £149): All of the above gifts, plus a cuddly Alfie Fox toy (Alfie is the mascot of Aerospace Bristol, home of Concorde “Alpha Fox”) and your story marked with a silver Concorde pin
  • Gold donation (£150+): All of the gifts above – and an invitation to a special occasion in the first 12 months of opening – plus your story prominently highlighted on the map with a special golden Concorde pin

Donations will help to create the new home of Concorde and share the spirit and power of the Queen of the Skies.

Children who have never seen her before will be awestruck, adults who remember her will be proud, and she will conjure up big dreams of turning the impossible into the possible.

The Bristol Aero Collection Trust (registered charity no. 1010632) needs the support of Concorde’s friends and admirers to give Concorde a fitting new home at Aerospace Bristol and keep the memory of Concorde alive.
