What to look for when choosing a beauty salon

With the festive season in full swing, many of us use this as an opportunity to look our best during Christmas and New Year, with salons busier than ever! If you are in a similar situation and are considering heading to a beauty salon for the first time in a while, here are a few things to consider.

Customer reviews

Research shows that 90% of customers read reviews before booking a service at a salon, with 94% actively avoiding a business rating of fewer than 5 stars. As such, reading previous customer reviews will allow you to make an informed decision before visiting the salon, whether it be staff friendliness, treatment quality or the number of services available. You may also find that asking friends and family for recommendations is also a useful way to find out the low-down of salons in your local area.

Treatments and extras

Treatments and products vary between salons so you should be sure to investigate what kind of services and extras the salon offers. For example, if you are someone who wants your hair and nails done but your salon only offer one of the two, it may be best to find somewhere that can offer both to reduce the time you need to spend travelling from place to place. Some salons may even offer to do multiple treatments at the same time which is perfect if you’re short on time this festive period!

You should also look for salons that offer extra products such as tan accelerators or cuticle oil to ensure that you get the most out of your treatment each time that you visit.

Check their social media

As with most businesses nowadays, if the salon you are looking to visit has social media accounts, be sure to check them out. A little bit of background research will go a long way and you will be able to see if the salon offers the kind of thing that you are looking for, whether it be delicate nail art or a shaggy, modern trim.

Offers

From new client offers to loyalty cards, most salons offer something as a thank-you for your custom. If you are a new customer you may find that you can get a discount on your treatments which is always welcome, but particularly during Christmas when we may be tightening our belts a little.

If you are planning to continue visiting a salon into the New Year then opting for a salon with a good loyalty scheme is preferable. You may find that you get discounts or free treatments after you attend a certain amount of appointments – or that you receive a money-off voucher after spending a set amount on treatments and products.
