Wiltshire Police say that the A419 will be closed for ‘several hours’, following a ‘serious’ road traffic collision which happened earlier this morning.
Two lorries collided in lane one of the busy dual-carriageway at around 6.30am, 24 May.
Four fire crews from across Wiltshire were in attendance of the incident, and were required to extract one male casualty from a lorry.
Tri-force Specialist Operations Roads Policing are at the scene.
A Highways England spokesperson said: “The A419 southbound in Wiltshire is closed between the A420 and the M4 J15 near Swindon due to serious incident which is being led by Wiltshire Police.
“Roads users can exit onto the A420 and are advised to follow road signs with the hollow triangle symbol to rejoin the M4 and the A346.
“Road users are advised to allow plenty of extra time for their journey and may wish to use an alternative route if possible.”
Motorists are asked to avoid the area for the foreseeable future.
