A Park South resident feels that the area comes second to the likes of more affluent parts of the town, after a burnt out car has been left in a car park for days.
During the early hours of Thursday morning, 10 December, a car was set alight in the Cavendish Square car park, in Park South.
One resident feels that the area comes second to the more affluent parts of the town; the likes of Old Town and Lawns, for example and that’s why the car hasn’t yet been moved.
The 34-year-old mother, who wanted to remain anonymous, said: “I feel like if this has happened in another part of the town, like Lawns or Old Town, it would have been moved days ago. I pay my council tax and own my own home, just like others.
“Why should I have to see this outrageous monstrosity?
“I have seen a lot of people taking photographs of it, and I’m pretty sure the kids on the way to school stop and have a look.”
Police are appealing for witnesses following the fire; a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Anyone who saw anything suspicious is asked to contact police, and officers are particularly interested in speaking to the driver of a white panel van who was seen in the area at the time and may be a witness.
“They should call PC Dan Travis at Gablecross Police Station on 101.”
We contacted Swindon Borough Council for comment, but they were unavailable at the time of publishing – we expect a response on Monday.
