This morning’s round-up operation was successful, with all four horses safely corralled and returned to their owner.

They bolted after someone went shooting in a nearby field, without informing the land owner, causing the horses to panic and bolt.

A police spokesperson said: “Thank you to those members of the public that kept us updated as to where they were as the horses ran along major routes from Stanton Fitzwarren to Stratton.”
