Police close part of town centre due to man threatening to jump

Part of the town centre was closed after a man threatened to jump from a height.

The incident started to unfold outside Sainsbury’s at around 7.40pm tonight, 20 July.

A man, thought to be in his early 30s, sat on the edge of The Brunel Shopping Centre’s staff car park and store access ramp near to Commercial Road.

Wiltshire Police and South Western Ambulance Service were called to the scene.

Swindon 24 understands that the man, who may have been intoxicated, has come down safely and is receiving medical treatment from the ambulance service.

The incident was resolved by around 8.15pm.
