A member of petrol station staff has been assaulted during an armed robbery.
The Marlborough Road Service Station, next to the Holiday Inn and Coate Water, was raided by an offenders at around 9.30pm on Sunday 15 August.
A slim, white male, wearing a black motorcycle helmet, entered the station and threatened the male cashier with a metal pole.
The cashier opened the till, the offender then assaulted the cashier with the pole before taking money from the till. He then left through the main entrance.
The offender was also wearing a dark-coloured hoodie, grey t-shirt, grey jogging bottoms and white trainers.
The cashier was taken to the Great Western Hospital with cuts to his head which are not thought to be life threatening or changing. He is currently still in hospital.
An eye-witness told Swindon 24 that “half a dozen police cars were at the scene and police dog were running around everywhere.
“The manager of the store told me that one of his staff has been assaulted with a baseball bat during an armed robbery, but I’m not sure what was taken.”
Crime Scene Investigation officers were on scene for several hours.
Det Con Jared Yalden said: “We would like to speak to anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious or anyone acting suspiciously in this area, at this time.
“There is a busy road which runs past this service station, someone may have seen something around this time – if that is you, please call me.”
