One person has died, and another two injured, in a fatal road traffic collision near Royal Wootton Bassett this morning.
PC Richard Hatch, from Triforce Collision Investigation Unit at Wiltshire Police, told Swindon 24 on scene: “At approximately 11.30am, a three vehicle collision occurred on the A3102 at Tockenham.
“All we know at this moment is that a car travelling towards Lyneham has, for reasons yet to be established, crossed to the opposite side of the road and been in collision with a heavy good vehicle travelling towards Swindon.
“We have one confirmed fatality, and two minor injuries at the scene. The deceased has not yet been formally identified, so we cannot release any further details.
“Our investigation is ongoing and the road will be closed for many hours.”
A spokesperson for Iceland said: “We are sorry to have to confirm that an Iceland lorry was involved in a fatal road traffic collision near Royal Wootton Basset this morning.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased.
“It would not be appropriate for us to make any further comment until investigations into the collision have been completed.”
