New College students achieve top national marks in Financial Studies

New College students Keelan and Benjamin were in the top 1% of all students nationally taking the Certificate in Financial Studies this summer.

As a result, ifs University College, the University for Financial Education, have offered the students a £750 scholarship if they wish to enrol on a degree programme with them next summer.

Keelan Bowman and Ben Whittington were presented with the scholarship certificates by ifs University College Relationship Manager Debi Howell at New College.

Keelan and Ben are now both studying for a Level 3 Diploma in Financial Studies at New College. They said: “This is a great and enjoyable course. It helps you to understand personal finance as well as preparing you for a future career in Financial Services.

“Great teaching, and the ifs University College provide good revision materials. Exams are well spaced so that you can focus on each unit in depth giving you the best chance of achieving high grades.”

The course focuses on areas including banking, paying for a car, choosing the right mortgage and interest rates.

The Certificate and Diploma in Financial Studies are Level 3 courses, recognised by universities, and are worth the same number of UCAS points as AS and A Levels.

The courses are taught in the Business Studies area at New College with easy access to several computer rooms. ifs University College also provides a comprehensive online learning support package for students.
