Man killed as two-seater aircraft crashes into south Wiltshire field

A man has died after an aircraft he was travelling in crashed into a Wiltshire field.

The two-seater plane collided with the ground on Dinton Airfield – near Salisbury – this morning, Friday 8 July, at around 10.45am.

Emergency crews, including three air ambulances, a number of fire engines and a land ambulance, attended the scene and one casualty was released from the wreckage.

A police spokesperson told Swindon 24: “Wiltshire Police received a call at 10.50am this morning, 8 July 2016, reporting a light aircraft crash on Dinton Airfield.

“It is believed there were two people on board the aircraft.

“Officers, fire and ambulance are currently dealing with the incident at the scene.”

South West Ambulance Service say that two men were on-board the plane.

The Air Accident Investigations Branch are investigating the incident.
