A 64-year-man has tragically died after a car collided with him while he was walking down a Marlborough lane – with his back to traffic.
The road traffic collision occurred in Lockeridge, on Saturday 21 November at 10:44am, on an unclassified road. A Vauxhall Zafira was in collision with Mr Punton as he was walking along the road with his back to the traffic.
He sustained a serious head injury as a result.
George Punton from Lockeridge, died in Southmead Hospital on 3 December from the head injuries he sustained in the collision.
His next of kin have been informed and formal identification has taken place.
Officers from the Roads Policing Unit are investigating and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward and assist police with the investigation.
There have been no arrests, enquiries continue.
