A 24-year-old man who admitted shouting, swearing and spitting at two women in Abbey Meads has been sentenced to unpaid work.
Alex Cheesley was parked in a disabled space at Abbey Meads Village Centre when he was challenged by a woman for parking in a disabled bay without a blue badge.
He reacted by becoming verbally abusive, and that’s when another woman intervened to try and calm the situation down.
However, she got more than she bargained for when disgusting Cheesley spat at the Good Samaritan, which landed on her face and in her hair.
In court, he pleaded guilty to assault and a public order offence in February, and this week was sentenced to 200 hours unpaid work in the community.
He will have to pay £150 compensation to the woman he spat at, and £50 to the other woman involved. He will also have to pay £450 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
